This documentary-style mini-series drama doesn’t shy away from exploring the complexities of teenage life in a raw and unfiltered way. In a time when films and shows about the teenage years and growing up are often made to seem simplified, perfect, and with happy endings, ‘Adolescence’ challenges that narrative by showing viewers the raw truth of teenage life and what it really is like to grow up.

‘Adolescence’ takes us on a captivating journey through the raw and unfiltered aspects of teenage life. The series doesn’t shy away from uncomfortable and difficult aspects that are often hidden away. ‘Adolescence’ isn’t just a series, it’s a reality. This series is tough but impossible to look away from as it shines a light on important aspects teenagers face in today’s world. Although by the end of episode one, the series has already revealed the truth of who did it, it still leaves you questioning, thinking, and craving more. And it delivers! ‘Adolescence’ portrays young people at their most vulnerable, dealing with mental health struggles, identity, friendships, love, and the harsh realities of bullying.

The way ‘Adolescence’ was filmed in one continuous shot adds to the raw realism of the story as it adds an extra layer of intimacy. This allows the viewers to feel as though they’re not just watching the characters most private and important moments but living them alongside the characters. You’re not just an observer, you’re part of the story. The performances from Owen Cooper, Stephen Graham, Erin Doherty, and the whole cast are powerful as they capture the vulnerability, intensity, and depth of their characters.
